Makayla is a talented songwriter/musician and has toured New Zealand, opening for Six60 on their Grassroots Tour. She won the "Best Māori Female Solo Artist" at the 2025 Waiata Māori Music Awards.

The teachers at Taradale High genuinely care about their students, as evidenced by many dedicating their entire careers to the school. They went the extra mile, writing recommendation letters up until the last moment and always being available for a chat during the day. They were always there to help, no matter what."

Shane completed a Bachelor of Management Studies, majoring in Accounting and Economics with the University of Waikato. Following his studies, he secured a place in the inaugural Graduate Programme at Auckland Transport. During this time, he completed his chartered accountancy with CPA Australia while gaining valuable real-world accounting experience.

“Throughout my 5 years at THS, I met amazing people and built friendships that taught me vital communication skills, adaptability and problem solving skills. I was able to work on my academic subjects alongside working towards my goal of joining the New Zealand Defence Force. 

I was also encouraged to develop my independence to set me up so that I would be ready to face any challenges ahead, all while feeling supported by the staff at Taradale High School. 

I am extremely grateful to the staff that supported me throughout the application process for the New Zealand Army. They went above and beyond to ensure I was well prepared to follow my dream career."
