He Ara Tika Youth Support
He Ara Tika (Roopu a Iwi) is a mentoring programme that works specifically with young Maori students attending secondary school. The mentors are volunteers who are delivering an approved programme in the school setting. With the support of the Ministry of Education, we are dedicated to encouraging Maori secondary school students to remain in education and progress to tertiary study. The means providing support, mentoring and guidance throughout the school year and involving whanau and communities.

Ka Hao Te Rangatahi ke te Matua a Maui Trust
Napier City Council provide a leadership programme for at risk Maori males. A kaupapa Maori based initiative will be delivered to a target group of male Maori youth in Maraenui, exhibiting violent behaviour and who are potential targets for recruitment into local gangs.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga Youth Transitions Service
The core objectives of the Youth Transitions Service are to support young people (15-19 year olds) at risk of prolonged inactivity, to undertake education, training or work or other activities that contribute to their long term economic independence and well being. To build their awareness of the opportunities and services available to young people who are at risk of prolonged disengagement from work, education, or training.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga Mental Health Services
A variety of services is offered to support whanau with a mental health diagnosis. Services range from community support; respite for youth; supported accommodation; rehabilitation; emergency housing; psychiatry; psychology; nursing; social work support and cultural intervention. Initial assessments are made and depending on diagnosis and age, a referral to the most appropriate in-house service or external agency will occur. The services provided in-house have differing age and diagnosis criteria. Referrals are welcome from GP, whanau, self or specialists.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga Rangatahi Services
The rangatahi services are designed to work with rangatahi aged between 8 and 18 offering them support and advice. Rangatahi Service provides an innovative set of programmes designed to support whanau in setting and working toward goals in edcuation, employment and life skills by taking a holistic approach to the issues affecting each whanau.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga School Attendance Services
The School Attendance service does more than simply return a truanting child to school. It gets to the root of why a child is choosing not to go to school, then works with whanau to address those issues. This empowers whanau to take control of their lives, set goals for their future, and ensure that tamariki and rangatahi receive an education as the foundation for their own lives. Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga has eight staff working on these services, with two in Hastings, two in Napier, one in Dannevirke and three in Wairarapa.

Awhina Whanau Services
Awhina Whanau Services is free to assist youth and families to create and maintain strong coping mechanisms for life's stresses. Mana wahine: youth specific kaupapa Maori small group for young women (12-17 years). Tuakana/teina approaches harm reduction, sexual health, peer support, self-awareness, counselling and therapy. Directions Youth Health Centre
They provide FREE and confidential youth and well-being services for 10-24 year olds. Service provision includes access to GP, nurse clinics, counsellors, social worker, and youth workers. Where appropriate they can also support with transport. The services are focused on meeting the needs of young people in an environment that allows wrap-around support and care. They also work with schools and youth-based organisations providing education and strengths-based programmes.
